Local Start-up Motif Investing Seeks to Hire Area’s Top Talent in Tech, Financial Services and Social Media
San Mateo, CA., January 10, 2012
Individual investors are increasingly demanding more control, choice and transparency, leading local-area Motif Investing to challenge the limitations of investing in individual stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs.
Motif Investing announced today the beta phase launch of a new online brokerage platform whereby individual investors can buy a motif –a portfolio of 20-30 stocks that reflect real world trends and experiences. Potential beta users can sign up by going to the Motif Investing Facebook page at www.facebook.com/motifinvesting. Select beta users will be invited to open an account and start trading in a way no one has ever done before.
Beta users can choose, for example, a motif called Renter Nation, which invests in the ongoing shift from home ownership to renting, which include publicly traded companies that develop, lease, and operate rental properties.
Founded by a former Microsoft executive and an experienced hedge fund analyst, many Motif Investing employees hail from leading San Francisco-Bay area companies including Charles Schwab, Etrade, Mint.com, and Amazon’s A9. Formed in 2010, Motif has over 30 employees and expects to double this year by adding key hires in marketing, engineering, and operations. Motif is looking for smart, entrepreneurial minds with career interests ranging from following financial markets to innovating in social media to developing leading edge technologies.
Motif Investing is a new online broker (Member FINRA/SIPC) offering an innovative platform for individual investors to invest in thematic investment opportunities. Motif’s investors include Foundation Capital, Ignition Partners, and Norwest Venture Partners. For more information, please visit www.motifinvesting.com.
