Emerging Markets have been on a tear. Or have they? The broad EM index has significantly underperformed. But if you look under the hood, the BRIC's - Brazil, Russia, India, and China - have underperformed, and they take up a lion's share of EM index. Their economies have grown considerably over the last decade and each is facing significant headwinds.
Jim O'Neil, of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, is perhaps most famous for coining the term "BRIC". Recently, he has come up with the "Next 11" EM countries whose economies will follow the BRIC's. They're Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey, South Korea, and Vietnam. Unfortunately, three of these countries are very difficult to invest into, but the rest are all in this motif.
