Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Hardeep co-founded Motif Investing to create an intuitive way to invest conceptually. He spent more than six years at Microsoft, where he was General Manager of the company's enterprise services business, and prior to that was a Director of Corporate Development and Strategy, helping to oversee Microsoft's investments and acquisitions. He started his career at The Boston Consulting Group. Hardeep holds a BS in Economics and Engineering from Yale University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. He holds Series 7, 63 and 24 licenses in the securities industry, is an active member of FINRA's Small-Firm Advisory Board, serves on FINRA's Technology Advisory Committee and contributes frequently to Bloomberg TV, CNBC, Fox Business and Forbes.
Chief Financial Officer
Jonathan has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining Motif Investing, he served as a vice president in investment banking at Wells Fargo Securities and as an associate at Thomas Weisel Partners, where he advised public and private companies on capital raises and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to that, Jonathan worked in the finance department at Charles Schwab, evaluating new brokerage products, pricing decisions and service model changes in the retail investor segment. He also has held positions at Deutsche Bank and Bear Stearns. Jonathan received his bachelor's degree from Yale University and an MBA from the University of California-Berkeley. He holds Series 4, 7, 27, 55 and 63 licenses, and is an avid investor who is intensely interested in the intersection of macroeconomics, politics and the markets.
Chief Compliance Officer & SVP of Customer Service and Operations
As one of the early executives at E*TRADE, Connie brings to Motif Investing a wealth of experience in the online brokerage space and an impeccable track record for success. Her career at E*TRADE spanned over 13 years, during which time she held roles such as Chief Communications Officer and Senior VP of Global Service Quality & Brokerage Operations. Connie was instrumental in building and growing the franchise from $23M to $2B in annual revenue and taking the company public in 1996. She has served on the Boards at Archipelago Holdings, E*TRADE Securities, Web Street, and as an advisor to the Chicago Board of Options Exchange. Connie holds the series 7, 63, 24, and 55 licenses.
VP of Marketing
Andrea brings over 15 years of marketing expertise to her position at Motif. Most recently she was Director of Consumer Marketing at eBay where she led acquisition and engagement for Consumer Sellers. Prior to eBay Andrea was Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Analysis at Digitas where she serviced clients across the financial services, telecommunications, technology and media industries. Andrea holds a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Richard A. Schilffarth, Jr.
VP of Sales
Rick has over 30 years of experience in investment-consulting and investment management. Prior to joining Motif Investing, Rick was Chairman and CEO of Advisor Marketing Services Group, LLC and a Senior Executive Vice President at Kelmoore Investment Company, Inc. where he managed all sales and distribution channels for both retail and institutions. He brings to Motif comprehensive experience in managing national sales forces, training financial advisors and brokers, and setting up consulting and managed account departments within brokerage firms.
VP of Engineering
Michael is a passionate technologist with experience ranging from trading systems, to search, to big data. In his tenure at Motif he has built critical pieces of infrastructure as well as led teams responsible for the core pieces of the system. He holds four patents for his work at Motif. Michael comes to Motif from Amazon's A9 search technology group where he worked on building data pipelines and distributed systems to analyze trillions of user actions as well as systems to measure search relevance. Prior to A9, Michael worked on realtime systems integrated into Sprint's CDMA cell phone signaling system at Telespree Communications. Michael holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.
VP of Investment Products & Analytics
Tuhin has over a decade of experience spanning investment management, trading systems as well as semiconductors and life sciences. Prior to joining Motif Investing, he led the research and development of quantitative market-making strategies and trading systems at Ronin Capital for the US equity index and commodities futures markets. Before that he was a quant strategist at Barclays Global Investors (now Blackrock) where he worked on portfolio management, signal research, and large-scale market data analytics. Tuhin holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, he has co-authored several highly cited publications based on his doctoral work at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He earned a bachelor's degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is also a CFA charter holder and holds Series 7 and 63 licenses. Tuhin is particularly interested in the intersection of disruptive technology, data analytics, and fundamentals-based investing.
